Since the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak we have been keeping an eye on news and advice from the World Health Organisation, the UK Government and the NHS.
For now it is business as usual for us. We are open and still supplying mobility scooter batteries because while we are all taking measures to reduce contact with others we know it is still important for you to maintain your independence.
We are of course continuing to take precautions to ensure all packages are clean before being sent and that our team are safe.
The health and well-being of our team, customers and the general public are at the top of our concerns and we will continue to follow Government advice. We’re working on our business plans to ensure the smooth running of our business, no matter what happens because we know it is important for you to continue to stay healthy during this period.
With everyone’s health in mind here are our tips to stay mentally and physically healthy at this time:
- Follow NHS advice here and stay at home if you have symptoms.
- Limit contact with others even if you don’t have symptoms and maybe self-isolate, especially if you:
- are 70 or over
- have a long-term condition
- are pregnant
- have a weakened immune system
- Look after your mental health. Read books, call friends, use social media and do get out of the house (but distancing yourself from others) to get some fresh air and exercise.
- Do not have visitors to your home, even family and friends. There are loads of options to stay in touch – video calling, the good old telephone, WhatsApp and Facebook to name just a few. Obviously carers should take extra precautions and NHS staff and emergency services are around if needed.
- Avoid crowded places like pubs and restaurants. We know this one is difficult, especially as we know it’s affecting local businesses, but sadly at this time the impact to your health is more important. Once you can get back out there we’d suggest staying local to support your community.
We hope this tips help you get through this uncertain time. Remember we are available on the phone (01424 853491) should you need to discuss your mobility needs at this time.
Stay safe and stay healthy everyone.
All the best from your SLK Mobility Team.
